Sara-Lynne Knockwood, Sipekne’katik First Nation
Owner of Knockwood Consulting, Sara-Lynne is a leader in Indigenous sport and recreation with nearly 20 years of experience. As Director of Sport and Venue for the 2023 North American Indigenous Games, she demonstrated her expertise in large-scale event planning. With a strong background in working with Mi’kmaq communities and an MBA in Sport and Recreation Management, Sara-Lynne is dedicated to advancing the growth of and empowering Indigenous
communities.
Serene Porter, Six Nations First Nation, Ontario
Serene Porter, owner of Serene & Wander Consulting, is a multidisciplinary artist and consultant
specializing in community engagement and cultural inclusion. With roles like Indigenous advisor for
the 2024 Juno Awards, Nova Scotia Music Week and Director of Culture & Engagement for the 2023
North American Indigenous Games, Serene integrates Indigenous culture into major events,
fostering understanding and appreciation among diverse audiences. Serene’s strengths in cultural
awareness training and creating spaces for meaningful Indigenous inclusion ensure that projects are
not only successful but transformative.


Laura Seaboyer, Sipekne’katik First Nation
Laura Seaboyer, owner of Nikanusk Consulting, is dedicated to fostering community engagement.
With a background in Therapeutic Recreation and Human Resources, Laura has been instrumental
in the success of the 2023 North American Indigenous Games, where she led the recruitment,
training, and retention of over 3,000 volunteers. Her commitment to creating secure and inclusive
environments is reflected in her work in governance and policy development. Laura’s ability to
combine cultural education with administrative excellence ensures that projects are well-managed
and community-focused. Her expertise extends to conducting thorough needs assessments and
environmental scans, as well as interpreting data to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

Connor McKiggan (he/they)
Connor McKiggan is the National Business Development Manager for Rainbow Registered, Canada’s national accreditation program for 2SLGBTQI+ inclusive businesses, delivered by the Canadian 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce. In this role, Connor works with businesses, municipalities, and tourism organizations across the country to embed equity and inclusion into policies, practices, and customer experiences.
Connor is also the Chair of Halifax Pride, one of Atlantic Canada’s largest cultural festivals. Under their leadership, Halifax Pride is preparing to host Canada Pride 2027, a significant national event celebrating 2SLGBTQI+ communities. With a background in sustainability, international development, and over six years of experience organizing community and cultural events, Connor is dedicated to fostering inclusive economies and diverse communities.
At the Event Atlantic Summit, Connor will discuss the Rainbow Registered program, the benefits of inclusive practices in event tourism, and the enduring impact of large-scale events like Canada Pride on communities and businesses.


Project Lead, Rainbow Registered (Southern Ontario & Atlantic Canada)
Victoria has built a dynamic career in Project Management, specialising in operational excellence, process improvement, and strategic planning.
Her experience spans the tourism and service industries, event production, media and entertainment, and the nonprofit sector, where she has managed complex projects, forged high-level partnerships, and championed diversity and inclusion initiatives. Known for her adaptability, creativity, and people-focused approach, Victoria thrives in dynamic environments, ensuring every project she leads is executed with precision and impact.
Based in Scarborough, Ontario, Victoria enjoys music and theatre, creating and sharing food and drinks with loved ones, practicing yoga and running, and embarking on new adventures with her partner and their beloved pup, Jones.
Marie Zimmerman has worked for five Canadian arts festivals in music, dance, jazz, film, and literature, acting as Artistic Director, publicist, HR consultant, emergency plan architect, strategic planner, Treasurer, and Executive Director. She is one of the founding members of the Guelph Fab 5, a collective of local arts festivals. She has managed carbon measurement and reduction projects, helped festivals achieve net carbon zero and thus win national and international sustainability awards, spearheaded community engagement projects, award-winning tourism initiatives, robust risk-management strategies, and powerful creative partnerships among businesses, not-for-profits, and government bodies. She has a passion for the tourism industry as well as for sustainability, education, and arts and culture, which she brings to her new role as Director of Projects and Partnerships with Regional Tourism Organization 4 (RTO4). She is a 2024 recipient of the Three Rivers Woman of Distinction Award.


Theresa Howland
Executive Vice-President, Brand, Market development & Employee Services
Theresa joined the Stampede in 2013 and has held leadership roles in sponsorship, marketing and communications. She was appointed as Executive Vice-President, Sponsorship, Market Development & Employee Services in 2024.
In this role, Theresa is responsible for providing executive leadership to the Stampede’s Sponsorship, Marketing and Employee Services teams strategically focused on community alignment, collaborative relationships and providing services in support of the Stampede team.
Theresa has nearly 20 years’ experience with community organizations and the renewable energy industry, where she held senior management positions. She is also a community leader, having held volunteer board director positions with a number of not-for-profit organizations. Theresa has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Calgary.
Carson Ackroyd
Senior Vice President of Sales, Tourism Calgary
Carson Ackroyd is a Sales, Marketing and Communications professional with more than 25 years of experience in a number of industry sectors.
He started his career with the Sun Media organization where he worked for 13 years in a number of roles that included running the marketing, promotions and circulation sales for both the Edmonton Sun and the Calgary Sun before transitioning to lead the advertising sales team at the Calgary Sun. He transitioned to become the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for ATCO for more than a decade. In this role, he had a 100+ person team responsible for all aspects of marketing and communications for a multi national conglomerate in the energy, utility and structures and logistics business.
In 2018, Carson became the Sr. Vice President of Sales at Tourism Calgary where he leads a team responsible for attracting sport & major cultural events to the city as well as meetings & conventions.
In addition to his professional background, Carson has served on the Board of Tourism Calgary, Ag For Life, Calgary Blizzard Soccer Club and Silver Springs Golf Club.


Rich Sutter
Rich Sutter, born in Viking Alberta, is a former professional ice hockey player who contributed to the Sutter family legacy being one of six brothers to play in the NHL. Rich’s journey from the small town of Viking to a successful NHL career reflects a dedication to the sport that runs deep in the Sutter family.
Like his brothers, Rich developed a passion for hockey from an early age. He led the Lethbridge Broncos to a WHL championship in 1983 and a Memorial Cup appearance. His commitment to the game and undeniable talent led to his selection by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1st round (10th overall) of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft.
Sutter played 874 games over his 13-year career, during which he played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, Chicago Blackhawks, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Throughout his career, he played with brothers Brent and Ron, and was coached by brothers Brian and Darryl.
After retiring from professional hockey in 1995, he remained connected to the game through various roles in coaching and player development. As of the 2020–21 NHL season he is a pro scout for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Ron Sutter
Ron Sutter played 18 season in the National Hockey League, joining his brothers Brian, Brent, Darryl, Duane and Rich Sutter, all of whom played in NHL. He was the highest draft pick of the family, taken 4th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1982 and was the last of the Sutter brothers to retire from the NHL. Ron and his twin brother Rich both played on the Lethbridge Broncos in the WHL, and together they led that team to the Memorial Cup in 1983.
He made his NHL debut in 1983 with Philadelphia and played with the Flyers until the 1991–92 season, when he was traded to the St. Louis Blues. He spent 2 seasons playing amongst Rich while being coached by his older brother Brian. After that, he became somewhat of a journeyman in the NHL, playing for St. Louis, the Quebec Nordiques, New York Islanders, Boston Bruins, and San Jose Sharks within 4 seasons. Sutter played 4 seasons with the Sharks, being coached by older brother Darryl where he primarily became a defensive centre. Sutter would finish off his career with the Calgary Flames, and retired in 2001. After retiring, he worked for several seasons as a scout for the Calgary Flames.


Arash Madani
Award-winning, national broadcaster and this year’s keynote speaker
If it is a major event, chances are Arash Madani has been there to cover it.
From the Super Bowl to Olympics, NBA Finals, World Series, Wimbledon, Stanley Cup and beyond, Arash has travelled the world to chronicle the biggest moments in sport.
Arash has interviewed the greats. Sit-down conversations with Roger Federer, Derek Jeter, Christine Sinclair and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander; insights from Alphonso Davies, Usain Bolt, Summer McIntosh, Alexander Ovechkin, Novak Djokovic, David Beckham and Mark Cuban.
Understanding and telling people’s stories is one of Arash’s fortes. Presenting them has helped him transition into global success as a conference/convention host, moderator and MC.
Arash also provides a curated keynote address on leadership and what makes organizations succeed – tying together the parallels between the locker room and the corporate boardroom.
Larry Shaw
Larry Shaw is a nationally recognized leader in entrepreneurship and economic
development, named a Startup Canada Entrepreneurial Leadership Award winner and one
of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEOs. He has been the architect of cross-functional growth
initiatives that connect business, academia, government, and communities to drive regional prosperity. As the founder of Planet Hatch, New Brunswick’s first startup accelerator, and the force behind Ignite Fredericton and Knowledge Park, Larry has helped launch more than 300 companies and create over 4,000 jobs.
Beyond infrastructure, Larry’s leadership has focused on community economic growth by
leveraging regional assets, building competitive positioning, and advancing experiential
tourism as an element of Atlantic Canada’s broader economic story. He has led
transformative projects such as regional collaboration for community-based tourism
featuring hospitality and buy-local strategies to national leading infrastructure programs
such as the $40M Cyber Centre, Canada’s first dedicated Level II cybersecurity R&D facility, which anchors hundreds of high-value jobs and strengthens the country’s innovation capacity. His work consistently blends strategic foresight with place-based identity, creating lasting opportunities for entrepreneurs, researchers, and communities alike.
Larry Shaw’s hallmark is building ecosystems where business, government, academia, and
communities converge. By aligning strategic infrastructure with regional strengths, he
continues to advance innovation based prosperity across Atlantic Canada and beyond.


Emily Haynes
Executive Director, Taste of Nova Scotia
As executive director, Emily leads a multifaceted program of industry awareness, business development, marketing, events, export initiatives, and buy-local programs to keep Nova Scotia top of mind for both locals and visitors. She is the liaison with the board of directors as well as key government stakeholders in representing the association and its members.
Paul Tingley
Paul is a decorated athlete from Halifax, Nova Scotia and considered one of the
top sailors in the country. He is a five-time time Paralympian, a three-time Paralympic
medalist (Gold in 2008, Bronze in 2000 & 2016), a bronze and gold medallist at the
world sailing championships in 2009 and 2010 respectively and is a member of the
Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Canadian Sailing Team for
18 years and was named Sail Canada’s Sailor of the Year in 2008. In addition to his
impressive sports resume, Paul has worked as a Community Developer with the Rick
Hansen Foundation, a Parasport Coordinator with Sport Nova Scotia, and is presently
employed as an Accessibility Officer with the Nova Scotia Department of Communities,
Culture, Tourism and Heritage. Paul is credited with advancing a wide range of
parasports provincially and nationally, including sailing, sledge hockey, sit ski, table
tennis, and wheelchair basketball.

Flying In For The Summit?
The Halifax airport is a 40 minute drive away from the host hotel, Inn on Prince. Taxi services are readily available, however renting a vehicle may be the better option. -Especially if you want to take in the beautiful sights along the way! Several car rental firms are easily accessible directly at the airport.
